One 1

My quest for 2009 is to become a runner. Currently, I could perhaps outrun an attacker, but not for any great distance. For Christmas this year, I asked for outdoor running gear - this is a big deal for me because typically if I have to wear anything with sleeves to exercise outdoors, I won't do it.I got everything I asked for (sleeves and all). Later this month I will be embarking on a 13 week 1/2 marathon training camp. I am quite excited about this because I think that if thousands of other people can run a 1/2 marathon or more, then certainly I should be capable of doing so and I am up for the challenge. It may not be elegant or pretty at first, but I will learn and run, run, run so that I can finish the 13.1 mile course.
Today, I went on my first run with sleeves. Our local running shop sponsors the One 1 John Daley Memorial Fun Run and my friend Beckie and I braved the the 20 degree temperatures and wind and did the 4.4 mile course (we ran the first 2.2, and did a 4 minute run/2 minute walk for the second 2.2). I found it to be quite enjoyable and not so bad running in sleeves - in fact my gear kept me more than warm. So, 2009 is off and running....

Emerson loves this Leap Frog refrigerator magnet with animals from her Aunt Kelly. And we love picking up all of the pieces over and over throughout the day as she takes them down and throws them all over the kitchen. Actually, I don't mind - it keeps her occupied while we're making dinner. And it plays an assortment of songs (She'll be 'coming round the mountain, Oh Suzanna, etc.) that I have found Ryan whistling on multiple occasions. Oh, how our lives have changed!

No hands!
